I. What is POE?
PoE (Power over Ethernet) is a technology that transmits power over a network cable to simultaneously transmit data and supply power to IP end devices (e.g., IP phones, APs, IP cameras, etc.) over an existing Ethernet cable.

II. How POE works?
As shown in the figure below, the PoE power supply system includes the following two equipment roles: PSE (Power-sourcing Equipment) supplying power over Ethernet to the powered device PoE equipment, providing detection, analysis, intelligent power management and other functions, such as: PoE switch. Powered Device PD (Powered Device) such as wireless APs, cameras and other powered devices.

Recently, there are quite a few customers customised touch all-in-one machine with PoE power supply, how is it achieved? We usually have two ways, one is to embed PoE module in the touch all-in-one machine and connect it to the PoE switch through a network cable; the other is to connect it directly to the POE switch through a customised PoE splitter!

III. What are the advantages?
1）Simplify wiring, reduce costs
A PoE-powered touch panel can avoid the need for excessive power adapters and cable connections because it only requires a single network cable to simultaneously supply power and transmit data, thus saving time, network deployment costs, installation labour costs and post maintenance costs. The more PoE powered devices used in the network, the more obvious this time and cost advantage.

2) Layout Flexibility
In a PoE-powered network, the deployment of PoE powered devices is virtually unlimited by time, location, and environment, and there is no need to consider socket locations, power cord routing, and other issues.

3) Safe and Reliable
PoE is unified and centralised power supply by PoE power supply equipment (PSE), which has no strong electricity and will not cause accidents due to power leakage, so safety is guaranteed. In addition, PoE power supply equipment can also be connected to the UPS (uninterruptible power supply) system, once the main power input is interrupted, but also to ensure the normal operation of PoE powered equipment.
